Congratulations to many of the bicycle riders for making all the way from Santa Monica Pier to Hermosa Beach and back. We had 20 riders. The weather that day was swell for a bike ride with the temperature around comfortable 70°F (22.2°C). We also had one person that rode electric scooters with us. His name was Craig Uyeda. We left a little later at 10:25am and returned between 5:00pm and 6:20pm. Some of us decided to stop at Venice Beach to walk or to ride slowly since it is world famous for beach activities like performers showing their talents on the beach. Overall, we had a blast.

We had to explain a few basic rules that all riders should follow on safety such as what if we got a flat tire, we will stop and help fixing the flat tire, what if they fall behind, we will wait when they catch up with us, etc.

Bike path directed traffic on Washington Blvd in Venice Beach to a detour toward Marina Del Rey and Playa Del Rey.

No matter how slow the speed is, there is no speed limited, we were waiting for the other slow riders to catch up with us. After about 10-15 minutes of waiting, it's time to hit the road so we decide to go and leave one rider behind to catch up.

When we arrived at Hermosa Beach courtyard, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant. The waiters were very friendly and setup the tables for us. The food was reasonable and very healthy. We had a good time chatting with each other.

We parked and chained our bikes in the middle of busy courtyard in front of the restaurant.

We stopped at Venice Beach gymnastic playground for rope race. Rope climbing is an excellent way to determine how healthy you are, since it not only measures upper body strength, but also demands flexibility and a healthy heart. So, what are you waiting for? Start climbing. Of course, we had a good workout.

At last, we bumped four old gorgeous ladies which they were not with our group at the starting location, they were warming-up for upcoming WRAD Bike Day in the next two months. We will definitely see them on August 11, 2007.

WRAD will be happy to host another Bike Day on August 11, 2007. We think August is a good month of the year for bike riding. Let us know if you would like to host a bike day other than the bike path in Santa Monica as we are more than happy to help you coordinate the bike events elsewhere. Watch for other upcoming events prepared by the WRAD organization like the beach party on Saturday August 11th at Hermosa Beach Pier, California. For further info, visit our website or www.ohsoez.com to look at updated calendar of events in the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Bruce Gross and Craig Uyeda were the photographers for the WRAD Bike Day. Thanks for submitting the photos to the WRAD office putting pictures onto WRAD webpage.
