![]() Dear Friends in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community: Summer is almost here and many of us are excited about more outdoor activities this summer. We planned to have a beach party at Santa Monica Beach in July, August, and September but we received reports that the beach is badly polluted so we agreed to cancel our events there except for the Bike event on August 12th which is still being planned. We will have a beach party on Saturday August 19th at Zuma Beach north of Malibu as it is a clean beach. We will meet near the cliff where they filmed "Planet of the Apes" so hope to see you at Zuma on August 19th from 10am until 5pm or so. You can park your vehicle at Zuma for a fee or try to find free parking but it is going to be a long walk to the beach. Thanks to Reynaldo Llarena to help with our successful bike day event last May 20th from Santa Monica to Hermosa Beach and back. You can see the pictures of the bike event. We will have another bike day event on Saturday August 12th at the same meeting place- Santa Monica pier by the parking lot between 9:30am and 9:45am as the group will leave for Hermosa Beach at 10:00am SHARP. We depend on our fundraisers to keep WRAD going. We also welcome donations from you as we do not have membership dues in our organization anymore. If you liked our events in the past and want to support us, please feel free to donate money to keep us strong and grow. For more information about our mission and our goals, you can go to www.wrad.org and click on MISSION and ABOUT US buttons. Thank you for your support and hope to see you in our fun activities more often in the future. (To give us a donation, click the DONATION button on the WRAD website.) As you know, WRAD is a volunteer-based organization as all of us are volunteers to provide fun activities in the community. We hope you can volunteer so if you want to host an event you are more than welcome to let us know and we can help announce it on the WRAD website. We need you so hope you will help plan something for us like camping or art day or whatever for the WRAD organization. Our email address is wradceo@aol.com Looking forward to seeing you this summer in our events. Recreationally yours, |
