Yes, whether we like it or not but SPRING IS HERE ALREADY! How time flies as we are already a few months into 2008. Everything is going well with the WRAD organization as we are continuing to provide different and fun activities in the deaf and hard of hearing community. Most of our events and activities are obviously in the Greater Los Angeles area in Southern California BUT please be advised that you are welcome to be an affiliate to the WRAD corporation so that you can advertise new events in your area that is far away from the Los Angeles area. There is NO charge at this time to become an affiliate of WRAD. Please contact us at WRAD if you want to become an affiliate as we can be reached at wradceo@aol.com or brucegross@aol.com. It is FUN to become an affiliate with you or your group so our friends will know more about our events and activities in the deaf and hard of hearing community.
Speaking of our local events, we are continuing to have different coffee nights at Starbucks Coffee in Porter Ranch near Northridge on the 3rd Friday of the month as well as Java N' Jazz in Valencia on the 2nd Saturday of the month and another Starbucks Coffee in Hollywood on the 1st Saturday of the month which is becoming more popular lately with bowling at Lucky's Strike Lanes again on Saturday May 3rd. We still have our pizza nights at Vince and Pasta on the 3rd Thursday of the month in Palmdale and just added a new gathering at Souplantation on the 2nd Wednesday of the month in Palmdale.
We are going to the California Poppy Festival on Sunday April 20 in Lancaster and it is an annual event that should not be missed. You will see fields of bright orange poppy flowers that are blooming around that time.
Our WRAD Halloween cruise scheduled for October 26-November 2 is coming along very nicely with over 200 registered people in our group. I have been to several expos and festivals promoting the WRAD Halloween cruise and we are continuing to accept more people on the Vision of the Seas cruise liner by Royal Caribbean International as long as we have space on the ship. The ship has a capacity of 2,400 passengers and about half of that number is already booked. Are you coming to our cruise? Do not miss it!!!! You can sign up NOW at www.deaftravelclub.com
I have plans to visit New York City the weekend of May 29 to attend the 100th anniversary celebration of my old school, PS 47 and plan to have a WRAD night club during that weekend. More details forthcoming.
What is WRAD? You can find out more about us at www.wrad.org as we have been serving the deaf and hard of hearing community since 1984. We accept EVERYONE in our corporation and we do not discriminate against anyone or group in the D/HH community. We are a deaf-run organization and our Board members are mostly deaf leaders.
Hope to see you in our events or activities !!!!!
Best regards and enjoy your Spring!
